All of these kits are recipe kits only, which means they contain only the ingredients for making beer, and no equipment / supplies. I have all batch sizes on this page. If there is something that isn’t included, that is required, I have made note of it in the description of each kit as well as posted a link to find any additional equipment you may need.
Mild Brown Ale – All Grain Kit – 5 Gallon Recipe
This is an All-Grain English style session ale with very little bitterness and has a lot of flavor. This style of beer is often served on draft in England. Considering it’s an English Ale, it will have a low ABV at 3.4% and the IBU’s are in the 22-25 range. Don’t let the low ABV keep you from wanting to brew this beer, English Mild’s are fantastic and really do have a lot of flavor, they’re one of my favorite styles.
When you click on the link above the first thing it’s going to ask you is if you want it pre-milled or not. This is in reference to the grain and unless you have a way to mill grain at home – you should choose ‘yes’ for pre-milled. After that they will have a convenient checklist of other optional items for purchase from More Beer! Some of these items you will need and some are optional. There is an extract version of this recipe kit as well at this link: Mild Brown Ale Extract Recipe.
What’s Included
This All Grain kit comes with 7lbs of British Pale Grain, 8oz of Crystal 60*L Malt and 4oz of Chocolate Malt. Additionally it comes with 1oz of Northern Brewer Hops and 1oz of Willamette Hops. Yeast is not necessarily included unless you choose it in the menu drop down when ordering your kit. I just ordered this kit for myself to make a caramel apple brown ale and I ordered (2) 12 gram packets of CellarScience English Dry Yeast. I wrote an article about this recipe on this site here: Home Brewing a Caramel Apple Brown Ale Recipe.
What Else You Need and Optional Equipment
You’re going to need a grain bag and yeast for sure and you have options for both of those items in the checklist. It also lists other optional items such as bottles, bottle caps, sanitizer, etc. You’re also going to need some type of fermenter, which could be as simple as a 5gallon bucket or carboy as well as bottles or a keg. If you need a brewing kettle, fermenter, wort chiller, grain bag, hops bag or any other supplies / equipment I have everything you need at: Shop – Home Beer Brewing Kits (homebeerbrewkits.com) Also, try my other internal links below:

Special Oktoberfest Ale – All Grain Kit – 5 Gallons
This is an All-Grain Oktoberfest recipe that because of the malts, it makes it more of a Festbier, and uses Pilsner grains and lagering to create. The ABV on this beer is approximately 5% with the IBU’s between 22-26 and makes 5 gallons.
When you click on the link above the first thing it’s going to ask you is if you want it pre-milled or not. This is in reference to the grain and unless you have a way to mill grain at home – you should choose ‘yes’ for pre-milled. There is an extract version of this recipe kit as well at this link: Special Oktoberfest Ale Extract Kit.
What’s Included
Included in this kit is 11lbs of Pilsner grain, 8oz of Caramel Munich Malt, 8oz of Caravienne Malt and 8oz of Abbey Malt, 1oz of Perle Hops and 1oz of Mt. Hood Hops. Yeast is not necessarily included unless you choose it in the menu drop down when ordering your kit. I just ordered this kit for myself to make and I ordered (2) 11.5 grams of Fermentis SafAle US-05 American Ale Dry yeast. 1 pack is typically enough but I wanted to make sure I got a complete fermentation of my wort so I ordered 2 packs. I wrote an article about this recipe on this site here: Home Brewing an Oktoberfest – A Festbier Recipe to be Exact.

Pliny The Elder by Russian River – All Grain
This recipe comes directly from Russian River and not a knock off by another company, which makes me really excited. I have had Pliny many times and it definitely lives up to the hype. This is one of my favorite beers of all time and I gave it a perfect 5 rating on Untappd.
This is a double IPA that will make 5 gallons at 8% ABV and 100 IBU’s so if you don’t like hoppy beers this one is NOT for you.
What’s Included
This kit includes 13lbs of 2-Row, 1lb of Carapils, 6oz Crystal 40L, 2oz Whole Cascade, 2oz Magnum, 2oz Simcoe, 1oz Columbus and 2oz Centennial. The instructions will tell you when and where you should add the hops.
What Else You Need and Optional Equipment
You’re going to need a grain bag and yeast for sure and you have the option to select what kind of yeast in the checklist. All of the yeasts they list are suitable for this beer and it doesn’t seem they have a recommendation for any particular type or brand so you can’t go wrong with any of them.
It also lists other optional items such as bottles, bottle caps, sanitizer, etc. The recipe lists adding 8oz of Maltodextrin, 1lb of corn sugar and clarifier none of which are included in this kit. You’re also going to need some type of fermenter, which could be as simple as a 5gallon bucket or carboy as well as bottles or a keg. Pliny The Elder by Russian River – Extract
This recipe comes directly from Russian River and not a knock off by another company, which makes me really excited. I have had Pliny many times and it definitely lives up to the hype. This is one of my favorite beers of all time and I gave it a perfect 5 on Untappd.
This kit is an extract kit but you have the option of a dry malt extract (DME) or a liquid dry extract (LME). The LME is a little less expensive than the DME so it’s your choice of what you’d rather brew with but they recommend the DME for a lighter colored beer – which this one is.
This is a double IPA that will make 5 gallons at 8% ABV and 100 IBU’s so if you don’t like hoppy beers this one is NOT for you. Once you click on the link to the page and you choose either LME or DME you’ll see a convenient checklist of other items for purchase from More Beer! Some of these items you will need and some are optional.
What’s Included
This kit includes brewing instructions, recipe sheet, 9lbs Ultralight liquid extract, 8oz light dry extract, 6oz Crystal 40L (LME) 7.5lbs light dry extract, 6oz Crystal 40L (DME) Hops: 2oz Whole Cascade, 2oz Magnum, 2oz Simcoe, 1oz Columbus and 2oz Centennial. The instructions will tell you when and where you should add the hops.
