As I was doing my research on these brewing kits I came to find out that there were a lot of 2 gallon options out there. I chose to add this section because I like the idea of maybe you want more than just 1 gallon (especially if you wish you had made more of a great beer and you drank them all in 1 night) and less than 5 gallons. You can still use these in a small space and obviously can yield twice as much as the 1 gallon kits. These 2 gallon kits don’t require any more work than the 1 gallon kits, they just yield twice as much.
Mr. Beer 2 Gallon Starter Brewing Kit – American Light
I listed this Mr. Beer kit first as this is definitely a kit for beginners and priced very reasonably for all of the items you get in it. I’ve used their products before and they make it really easy with step-by-step instructions, online videos, live chat, email and phone support. Because they’ve made the brewing process easy and straightforward – you can brew in about 30 minutes – which I think is pretty amazing considering it takes me hours with my equipment. Overall it will take about 3-4 weeks before you can drink your beer and believe me the waiting is the hardest part about making beer with this kit. You need to let it ferment for about 2 weeks and then carbonate for another 1-2 weeks before you’re able to drink your final product.
This kit comes with a plastic fermenter that actually has some built in features like a vented top, locking spigot, and made from UV-resistant material for keeping the bad light out of your beer. It also includes their Hopped Malt Extract, packet of yeast and a packet of no rinse cleanser. I can’t determine whether or not it comes with the carbonation drops but I don’t believe it does as they are not mentioned in this kit but are mentioned in other larger kits. These are helpful in carbonating your beer when you bottle. You can also use priming sugar, which does the same thing.
The only required things this kit doesn’t come with are the Bottles, Bottle Caps and a Capper Tool. I’d also recommend (but not required) a thermometer, stirring utensil and hydrometer, carbonation drops or priming sugar. You will need between 20-24 bottles for 2 gallons. These items are not included in this kit but you can use these links below to find them.

BrewDemon 2 Gallon Brewing Kit – American Prophecy Ale
This Kit is a little more expensive than the Mr. Beer Kit above and in my opinion it has more to do with the fermenter than anything else. You’re going to get a few more features out of this one and my guess is it’s going to last longer. Just like the Mr. Beer Kit above – you’ll be done brewing in about 30 minutes – and will be able to pitch your yeast almost directly afterwards.
Let me just say that the conical fermenter in this kit is pretty cool. What is a conical fermenter you ask? It’s a fermentation tank that is shaped like a cone so that yeast and other sediments can settle to the bottom for disposing and out of your beer. This is the world’s first patented small batch fermenter that has a lot going on with it. It comes with a base, a stick-on temperature gauge, an adjustable spigot. It also has a large mouth opening at the top, a built-in venting system and volume measurements on the side. The fermenter actually holds up to 3 gallons for making 2 gallon batches.
Other items included in the kit are (1) packet of dry brewing yeast, (1) packet of no-rinse cleaner/sanitizer, instructions and a Liquid Malt Extract recipe kit for brewing your first batch of beer. The recipe kit is for an American Prophecy Ale, which as far as I can tell, is a Pale Ale. It’s actually listed in Untappd as an actual beer and has a pretty good rating.

BrewDemon 2 Gallon Brewing Kit Plus – American Prophecy Ale
This Kit is a little more expensive than the other BrewDemon above because it actually comes with (8) 1 liter plastic screw cap bottles with labels. Keep in mind these are 1 liter bottes and not the smaller 12oz bottles you typically see hence there only being 8. I personally don’t love plastic bottles but these are great for a starter kit, especially as you’re building up your supplies. You don’t need a bottle capper or have to purchase bottle caps with these so you already have everything you need when you open your kit. It appears everything else is the same in the kit including the recipe and fermenter. Just like both of the other kits above – you’ll be done brewing in about 30 minutes – and will be able to pitch your yeast almost directly afterwards.

BrewDemon 2 Gallon Brewing Kit Extra – American Prophecy Ale
This Kit is a little more expensive than the other BrewDemon above because in addition to the (8) 1 liter plastic screw cap bottles with labels that are included it also comes with an 18″ plastic mixing spoon and a bottle filler with hose. Keep in mind that the bottles are 1 liter bottles and not the smaller 12oz bottles you typically see, hence they’re only being 8. I personally don’t love plastic bottles but these are great for a starter kit, especially as you’re building up your supplies.
