All of these kits have equipment / supplies and recipe ingredients for making beer so that you will have what you need on brew day. If there is something that isn’t included, that is required, I have made note of it in the description of each kit. Please note that some of the less expensive kits may not have as many items in them as the more expensive kits and I will do my best to point out the differences. These are in order of price (lowest to highest).
Brooklyn Brew Shop IPA Starter Kit
This IPA kit from Brooklyn Brew Shop contains their Everyday IPA Recipe Kit (grain, hops and yeast), 1 Gallon Glass Fermentor, Thermometer, Siphon, Airlock, Sanitizer, and Screw-Cap stopper. The IPA is the only style they have available right now. (through Amazon)
You will need at least a 2 Gallon Kettle / Pot to brew your ingredients in and about 12 -12oz bottles to store your beer in after it’s fermented. You’ll also need Bottle Caps and a Capper Tool. I’d also recommend (but not required) a thermometer, stirring utensil and hydrometer. These items are not included in this kit but you can use these links below to find them.

BrewDemon “LittleDemon” Starter Kit
This kit from BrewDemon makes for a good starter kit as well. I’ve tucked this one in between 2 different Craft A Brews as the pricing falls in between them and has some different features. Also, I’m going to feature BrewDemon in the “2 Gallon Brewing Starter Kits” section of this site as they have a very good selection of them.
This kit includes a 1 Gallon Little Demon Conical Fermenter, A Vent Plug (No Airlock Required), Adjustable Flow Tap Assembly, Stick-on Temperature Gauge, Recipe Ingredients, Packet of Dry Brewing Yeast, Packet of One Step No-Rinse Cleanser, Easy to Follow Brewing Instructions. This kit comes in 4 different recipes (Pilsner, Oatmeal Stout, IPA and Witbier) You can choose which style you want when you click on the link above.

Here is another one from Craft A Brew that rivals the Northern Brewer kit (below) and is slightly less expensive. This differs from the Craft A Brew kit above in that it has a few more things included that the first kit doesn’t have. It still contains a 1 Gallon Glass Carboy for fermenting, Recipe Kit, Thermometer, a packet of Sanitizer, Air Lock, Steeping Bag, Instructions and Siphon but additionally it has 30 Bottle Caps and a Bottle Capping Tool. It has less recipe options than the first kit (Hefeweizen, American Pale Ale and Light Lager) but they are still some of the most popular.
You will need at least a 2 Gallon Kettle / Pot in order to brew your ingredients in and about 12 – 12oz bottles to store your beer in after it’s fermented. I’d also recommend (but not required) a Stirring Utensil and Hydrometer. None of these items are included in this kit but you can use these links below to find them.

Northern Brewer Siphonless Starter Kit
This kit from Northern Brewer includes several items including the 1 Gallon Glass Carboy Fermentor, Air Lock, Bottle Capper, Bottle Caps, Recipe Kit, Personalizable Beer Bottle Labels, Instructions and Recipe Kit. The fermenter has a spigot at the bottom for siphonless transfers so that a siphon is not needed. This kit comes in 4 different beer styles (Kama Citra IPA, American Wheat, Brown Ale and Irish Red Ale). When you click on the link you will have the option of choosing which style you want.
You will need at least a 2 Gallon Kettle / Pot in order to brew your ingredients in and about 12 – 12oz bottles to store your beer in after it’s fermented. You’ll also need a sanitizing product to keep all of your equipment and utensils clean while you’re brewing. Star San is a great product and a little bit goes a long way. I’d also recommend (but not required) a Thermometer, Stirring Utensil and Hydrometer. None of these items are included in this kit but you can use these links below to find them.
